International Women's Month Festival

International Women’s Month is a global month celebrating the achievements of women. This year we have chosen the theme #IntergenerationalActivism. 

This International Women’s month, the Ubele Young Emerging Leaders Collective invites you to attend and participate in our online International Women’s Month Festival on Wednesday 31st March 2021 from 11:00am – 8:00pm. The festival is jam packed with practical workshops, talks and panel events exploring pertinent issues and experiences faced by Black and Minortised Women. The sessions will cover a variety of topics ranging from Digital Activism to Women's Health. Our headline event is an intergenerational panel event exploring the role of Women in social activism. So make sure you have the date in your diary and you have registered for sessions via HOPIN. Be there or be SQUARE!

11:00 - 11:30 am Welcome Session - Welcome session opening the festival and introducing you to the trailblazers that make up the Young Emerging Leaders Collective.

 

11:30 am - 12:00 pm Networking - Meet and mingle other like minded Women!

 

12:00  - 1:00 pm Women’s Wellbeing Workshop - In a constantly moving world many of us forget the importance of slowing down, resetting and pausing. As our lives get more hectic and during these times of uncertainty iit is important that we take time to rest and reflect on our wellbeing. This interactive workshop seeks to explore creative wellbeing practices, host conversations/ experiences and give practical activities that you can do in the comfort of your home to take time for yourself, rest, reflect and navigate through life’s many changing seasons.

 

1:00 - 2:00 pm Diaspora Kitchen with Nadia -  Learn to cook food for the soul! Join mother and daughter duo Iman & Nadia. Nadia will be cooking Egyptian Koshari, a delicious vegan dish. Nadia will be taking  any questions you have and will be interviewed by her daughter Iman. Nadia will explore her Egyptian culture, share her journey as mother and cook, tell us the story behind her dish, and her experiences as a person of diaspora living in the UK. 

 

2:00 - 3:00 pm Women’s Health Matters! - Join us for a candid conversation on all aspects of Women's health. We will be joined by three Black and POC women health specialists who will give you an insight into their work and will be taking any questions you have. Make sure to join us with a cup of tea or coffee so you are ready to have a frank and sometimes funny conversation about everything from hot flushes to self care routines. 

 

3:00 - 4:00 pm Digital Activism, Social media for Social Justice workshop - Join us for a fun and interactive session on digital activism. This session will provide you with tools to use social media to create the change you would like to see in the world and share your story. 

 

4:00 - 6:00 pm Networking - Meet and mingle other like minded Women!

6:30 - 8:00 pm "A spotlight on activism across generations" - Women have been campaigning for change in society since the beginning of time, across various issues. Join us for this panel which will give us insights into how they advocate for social justice through various means. Coming from different generations, each panellist brings a unique perspective about social justice and their activism journey. Come along to this interactive event where you can hear from a range of activists and ask them any questions you may have!
