Because Africa has the youngest population, it is uniquely positioned to play a critical role in addressing global climate change.

Due to where Black people live and disinvestments in infrastructure in those places, we can expect disproportionate impact of global climate change on Black communities. However, there are also solutions being proposed and led by Black people, communities and countries that can have a significant impact on reducing global emissions. The African continent’s unique demographic of being the youngest continent by average age, and the fastest growing continent, positions it for perhaps the most significant role in addressing global climate change.
