Power to Change to help Wolves Lane Community Food Hub and Market

November 27th, 2018

Recently, we secured £20,000 grant plus support to develop a regular community market and to formalise a consortium structure.

We aim to progress two key areas of development which will enable us to go beyond mainly operating separately as individual businesses, and maximise the benefit of working at the site together and engaging with the community it serves.

Yvonne Field, said:

“We are really pleased to have secured this support as it will enable us to strengthen the Wolves Lane Consortium and to build on our emerging enterprise activities including the community market. It is important that we establish ourselves as a sustainable local organisation.”

Sara Buchanan, Joint Head of Open Programmes at Power to Change and lead on the Bright Ideas fund, said:

“We are really pleased to support the Ubele Initiative in the development of  the Wolves Lane Community Hub and Market. The project has the potential to provide opportunities in food growing, healthy eating and community enterprise in the local area, and we look forward to seeing it progress. No-one understands a community better than the people who live there. This is why, through Bright Ideas we are providing a mix of support and small grants to local people to develop community business ideas that will transform their local areas.”
