Ubele Emergency Conversation Part 2: Lockdown, Vaccines and the Virus

January 21st, 2021
UBELE EMERGENCY CONVERSATION PART 2.png

There are a lot of questions without answers around the vaccine and virus impacts for the BAME community. Disproportionately affected by the health system, valid reason to mistrust the government and the vaccine- are issues now added to a high level of grief, bereavement and loss in our communities. The death count is rising daily.

We are hoping to capture and hold space for intensifying discussions within our community about what steps to take: with government ministers, medical specialists and community leaders.

Here, we are going to have an urgent, brutally honest and relevant conversation that we must have as a community.

This event aims to offer BAME communities an opportunity to:

  • Reflect on the devastating impact of Wave 2 including high levels of critical ill health and deaths in BAME communities

  • Receive up to date information on the national COVID-19 guidance and vaccine roll out

  • Consider the effects of community based and government messaging on vaccine take up rates

  • Put questions to senior government officials, clinicians and researchers about Covid-19
