Wise Women Wellness saw the launch of the first held quarterly ‘Social Wellbeing Fest’ at the grand and funky creative space of the Tripod, Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton south London last month. The doors opened to a diverse melange of intergenerational women of multicultural descent ready to have fun, engage, mix & mingle at the celebratory event.

As they arrived, the women were encouraged to join a networking group to connect and be inspired from each other’s strength and successes in their wellbeing journey.

Wise Women Wellness host and founder Sharon Brooks presented the ethos and motivation behind the project. She explained  the importance of  a holistic approach and  how they  could further enhance their daily wellbeing habit by signing up to the  six week ’.. Achieving Life/ Work Balance programme,  which equips women with powerful  self coaching and counselling tools that take you from where  you  are to where you want be in your  self-care journey.

The women were then treated to the embodiment and essences of Wise Women Wellness in the form of the poetic word, written by the illustrious co-host, programme director and wellness coach Lorraine Suxdorf.

They also heard from:

*Fay William a nutritionist expert, who talked in brief about her new workshops for BAME women running in Lewisham and gave tips on how best to eat for holistic wellness.

*Counsellor Christine Banton gave great insight into how to best manage  mental wellbeing  through her Art Therapy self counselling programme,  which enables women better identify and understand their own feelings and help prevent them potentially developing depression  or the onset of an emotional crisis.

*Stella from the ‘Centre of Pan African Thought’, announced her landmark event  ‘ African Health and Wellbeing Day ‘ for African and Caribbean women, held mid July at the Conway Hall in central London and her  ‘online mobile afro hair service, Afrofrock’ where women  learn how to care for Afro hair or have their hair treated in the comfort of their own home.
